I followed the login link to BCMT - what now?

Once you've logged into the main BCMT website, open the PhotoWebApp tab again and you should be able to submit photos.

Why do I have to login again?

For arcane technical reasons the authorisation granted by the BCMT main website expires after 4 hours. So even though you may still be logged in to the BCMT website, the authorisation to use the PhotoWebApp is no longer valid and has to be renewed by logging out of the BCMT website and logging back in.

I’ve logged in, why isn’t my name and email displaying right away?

For security purposes, we don’t reuse that information from the website. You’ll need to enter it for the first photo, but once it’s there it will stay for any others you submit during the same session.

Why is some of the information about my photo already there?

Most cameras and also mobile phones have the option to include some geographic information in the EXIF tags of a photo. This information is extracted and filled automatically (if present) so that you don’t need to enter it. Because we want to make sure important fields like the coordinates are accurate, you can double check to make sure the information automatically entered are correct.
